Amber Heads North!

Amber is a solid chestnut Paint mare who has lived with me for about ten years. She is friendly enough, but challenging to ride, and as a result, I myself have never ridden her. She bonded, however, with my granddaughter Selena. The two of them became fast friends when Selena was a 'tween. Selena has since graduated from high school, and lives in N Minnesota where she works and goes to school, and is establishing a home. When she asked me, last summer, if Amber could move north with her, I instantly resisted the idea....afraid to let go of Amber!

After lots of visits, texts, emails and assurances, I agreed, and in late summer Selena and James arrived to haul Amber north. I cried as they pulled down the driveway, but Selena sent me frequent text messages, complete with photos, to let me know how Amber was doing on the trip, which she took in stride! Since then, Selena has continued to send text messages and photos, and has repeatedly expressed her joy at having Amber close enough that she can spend time with her - riding, grooming or just hanging out. I'm so happy that the two of them have each other!
