Balance Through Movement

I was first introduced to the concept of Balance Through Movement by my niece, Meg Eades, who is a fellow horse-lover, and all around animal enthusiast. She has trained with Celeste Lazaris, creator of the the method, which is designed to help the horse achieve balance and strength through development of the body and mind. The focus is developing the body through supporting spinal integrity and protecting the body from nerve compressions.

Because Meg lives in Georgia, and I live here in Northern Wisconsin, our lessons are done via Facetime or recorded video lessons, augmented by questions and answers via text messages and texted photos. I've been working with my little mare Downsize (Downie) who has a lovely disposition but is built quite croup-high, with a thick, powerful neck. There has been a lapse in lessons over this long, snowy winter, but I'm eager to begin anew, as I feel like the work we've done has really helped Downie begin to develop better balance and self-carriage and I have learned volumes about the biomechanics of the horse!

What a fun process! I, too, want to get more familiar with it to help rebalance Bull.

We finally have the promise of spring and something besides ice and snow! It'll be so nice to be able to get back into working with our horses!
