Do Horses Have a Sense of Humor?

I'm convinced that horses do have a sense of humor. I've had several horses over the years who seemed to have some favorite antics. My little Mustang/Arab gelding, Raznik, would empty all the tools out of the farrier's toolbox if he had half a chance. His half-sister, La La, delighted in pushing the cat off the rail fence if Kitty was silly enough to walk by in front of her. Other shenanigans from other horses - tugging on zipper pulls, stealing hats or mittens, picking up and flipping feed pans to name but a few.

I'm sure we've all seen horses playing with one another - nipping at each other, provoking a spook that sends the whole herd galloping off, rearing, kicking, bucking, etc. Many times this appears to include some humor that sparks off the play. When my daughter, Brigid J, removes the fly gear in the evening and sets it in a pile, Guiness, pictured here, delights in picking up his fly mask and making off with it. I'd love to hear your stories about horses and humor
