Equestrian New Year's Resolutions: 2024

A lot of people I talk to dismiss the idea of New Years Resolutions. A quick Google search about the likelihood of quitting resolutions yielded this result: Feb 2, 2023 (Fisher College of Business) — "In fact, research goes on to show that 23% of people quit their resolution by the end of the first week, and 43% quit by the end of January." Although I revisit my resolutions periodically throughout the year, I can't say that I've put in the effort to calculate how many (if any) resolutions I've kept each year. That having been said, I do still feel like it's a worthwhile endeavor. It helps me think through my vision for the year, and prioritize some of my goals.

I typically categorize my resolutions, which I will again do this year. Although I haven't finalized my list, I felt compelled to write a few of the resolutions that will most likely make the final cut:

1) Make time to ride!

2) Spend some time each week with the horses, just grooming, or pampering

3) Create a sinking fund to set aside money for some major equine purchases

4) Work on my own fitness

5) Kick up my heels more!

Are you making any equestrian resolutions?

I definitely want to ride more, as well as spend time taking my horses out, even if conditions are not suited for riding. I enjoy grooming them and playing with them almost as much as riding them!
