Friday morning Pam Larson came out to give lessons to Helena and myself, and to put in a ride on Sonrisa. For the sake of honesty, I must admit I have not been on my horse since last fall. Despite the brisk wind, I was eager to get back in the saddle; once there, I wondered why it had taken me so long. Pam helped me pinpoint the moment when my horse began to throw out a shoulder, lean on the rein, or shift her haunches to the outside of the track, any of which results in a loss of straightness. She also walked me through the steps of keeping my horse in balance, and helping her to develop her strength and suppleness. It was a highly productive lesson.
Her ride on Sonrisa was beautiful and educational, and Helena's lesson was excellent as well. What a glorious Friday morning. Throughout it all, Gator, our resident farm cat, was ever present....rolling in the sand, rubbing on Pam's legs as she coached the riders, or basking in the sun on the mounting block.

It was a very productive and beautiful morning! Gator is always happy to participate in the goings on, isn't he?
