Happy Earth Day!

Sunday's picnic was very relaxing and enjoyable. As a family we talked about what kinds of trees to plant and where. Kristen my neighbor has ordered 100 trees, including some I had never heard of, but which produce berries that are enjoyed by birds and humans alike. Some that look beautiful but which were new to me are nannyberry, hackberry and arrowwood. She has promised to set aside a few that I can plant at the arena. Melanie also wants to plant at least one more fruit tree with the rest of the apple, pear and maple trees we've planted the past couple years.

In addition we perused the website listed below, which has a lot of information about creating an eco-friendly equine facility. I will be exploring their strategies and implementing where possible.
