My Horses, My Teachers, by Alois Podhajsky

A small group of equine enthusiasts completed a study of the book "Gymnasium of the Horse" by Gustav Steinbrecht, under the leadership of dressage instructor Pam Larson. The group was so delighted with the process, and with the knowledge acquired, that we readily agreed to embark upon another book study.

The book we are currently reading is "My Horses, My Teachers" by Alois Podhajsky, who was an Olympic gold medalist, riding instructor, and Director of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna for 26 years. He writes with knowledge, compassion, humor and understanding - sharing stories and experiences, wisdom, and some thoroughly entertaining anecdotes. Throughout the book he describes how the horses he rode, trained & loved taught him many valuable lessons.

I will periodically share some notes and discussion points as our book study progresses, so watch for upcoming posts which focus on this fascinating book.
