Spotlight on Ruger

Ruger is a Miniature Horse, though technically his height puts him outside the upper range of the size limits for Minis. He came into our lives in 2013, and all of us immediately fell in love with him. When he first arrived, he was still a stallion, and he was a real firecracker! Ready to run, gallop, jump, rear, buck....whatever you can imagine, just so long as he was in motion. I made the decision early on to have him gelded, which I had done about a month after his arrival.

Ten years later, he has been able to run and jump to his heart's content. He has spent countless hours with family members and friends, and he has continued to win over the hearts of everyone he meets. He and my granddaughter Grace seem to have a very spe. cial relationship. She is learning some of the finer points of horsemanship on Ruger and learning how to feed, groom and care for a horse. She is able to safely lead him to and from the pasture and handles him with ease. He is a great teacher and friend. I never dreamed that one little horse could hold such a special place in our hearts!

Ruger is incredibly special! He is so patient with the little kiddos, letting them figure out how to handle horses correctly and safely! Thank you!
