After many years with insignificant snowfall, the blizzard that hit on Sunday night, February 21, 2022 unloaded more than 28" of snow, accompanied by winds gusting to nearly 40 mph. As anyone with large animals knows, chores at such times bring many additional challenges! Battling the wind and plowing through drifts adds significant time to the typical chore time. I imagine many horses, like mine, put on quite a show - plunging through the snow in a mad gallop! While it's beautiful to behold, I confess that it is tarnished a bit by concern that one of them could get hurt, or that they'll blast through fences!
Fortunately, after all its sound and fury, the blizzard ultimately blew itself out, and Wednesday morning, February 23rd, was ushered in with incredible peace and beauty!
